The Humanitarian Open Street Map Team (HOT) is asking for volunteers to map the areas affected by the cyclone Idai.
Cyclone Idai has caused widespread destruction across Mozambique and Zimbabwe, destroying homes and infrastructure, and the teams in the field need up-to-date information.
What can volunteers do?
MSF and IFRC are already using OpenStreetMap, but they need more up to date information to improve their response, so volunteers can help by updating existing maps. This can be done by:
Host a mapathon – gather some friends and collegues and host a mapathon. Find all the information in here.
Map – learn how to map and help HOT online.
Validate – if you area an experienced mapper, you can verify data.
